P. CECH

My name is P. I’m a 24 year old visual artist.

You can find some of my work at @intravenousoatmilk.

I am going to attend culinary school in Vancouver shortly as well.

What motivated you to get tattooed in the first place?

  • Definitely self-expression, art is a huge part of my life! Getting cool visuals on my body and meeting other artists in the process has been awesome.

Do you remember what your first tattoo was?

  • I actually got tattooed 3 days after I turned 18. I got a huge rib piece in colour, and then all my tattoos ended up hurting way less after I got that tough spot out of the way.

How many tattoos do you currently have? Which one was the most recent?

  • I currently have 30! Recently got a Suspiria piece on my shin and two knuckles done in the same go by my friend Jose. (@yourgoddamnbud)

What have been some of the inspirations behind the tattoos that you have? Do you typically have an idea in mind before reaching out to a tattoo artist?

  • I’m inspired by darker imagery, horror films and weaponry. Right now, I have 8 weapon related images tattooed.

  • Honestly, not usually. If it’s something I’m really set on absolutely, but I usually am drawn to specific feelings that I get from artist flash and connecting to certain imagery, rather than bringing my own ideas. I think that’s what makes it special to me.

What type of tattoo styles have you gotten done?

  • I have a large American Traditional piece on my thigh, but mostly blackwork. I’m planning to keep my arms all blackwork, and also have few ignorant trash pieces here and there.

Do any of your tattoos hold any personal meaning to you that you’d like to share?

  • A few! The 28 on my knuckles is my lucky number and follows me around, I see it everywhere. I was born on the 28th so it feels affirming when it reappears.

What were some of the most painful spots to get tattooed for you?

  • My sternum was definitely brutal. Ribs and surprisingly the big thigh piece!

Has having tattoos had any impact in your personal life?

  • Honestly no, as an artist it’s really freeing, especially because I’m planning to finish my hands/knuckles, and get my neck done. Going into the culinary industry also offers the same freedom. I’m really lucky.

Do you have any favourite tattoos?

  • My teacup that Jay Rice (@wildxrice) did is definitely up there. It has stayed so solid and dark after a few years. I also really like my bad home done tattoos. They are definitely the most personal.

Who are some of the artists that you've gotten tattooed by?

  • @emy.noemie.tattoo, @tylerthetattooer, @kirkshandrotattoo, @tawneedotcom, and @taylorrauma to name a few.

What artist(s) would you like to get tattooed by in the future?

  • I’d love to be tattooed by Chris (@beirxtt) when I head back to Vancouver. I’ve always wanted a snuffy.nyc piece as well. Ryan Cooper Thompson too, I love the work with hearts he does.

Do you have an idea in mind for your next tattoo?

  • I have plans to fill a gap on my left forearm and have it come onto my hand. I also want my knee blasted with a gnarly panther head.
